Blue Ridge Adventures
Blue Ridge Adventures is a grassroots race production company based in Pisgah Forest, NC. Company founder Todd Branham has been racing mountain bikes for 22 years, and organizing endurance events since 1998. Starting with just 40 entrants at the inaugural Off Road Assault on Mount Mitchell, Blue Ridge Adventures now runs three premier endurance races as well as a youth mountain bike race series. Pisgah has developed a growing and well-earned reputation for quality singletrack woven into the tallest and most rugged mountains this side of the Mississippi. Branham utilizes his experience as a professional trail builder in understanding the flow of the terrain to lay out courses that deliver a unique euphoric race experience.
Jerdon Mountain Challenge
– July 2014 – Old Fort, NC
Warmup to the ORAMM or just come out and ride a 30 mile course that doesn’t have you riding in circles! This is backcountry racing at its finest with a shorter course and still all the amenities of a long distance endurance race. This race will run the same course as the ever popular Off Road Assault on Mt Mitchell but will end before the famed climb up Curtis Creek Road to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The race will still tackle 4,000′ of climbing over 30 miles as you hit some ORAMM highlights like Old Highway 70, Kitsuma, Star Gap and Jarrett Creek. Celebrate with a huge after party complete with pasta/salad feast, New Belgium Beer and Shannon Ridge Wine on the picturesque Gateway Museum grounds.
The Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell (ORAMM)
– July 2014 – Old Fort, NC
The Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell is a 63 mile mostly off road Bicycle route with 11,000 feet of climbing. From Old Fort you climb over the Blue Ridge Parkway two times and just below Mt. Mitchell on beautiful Forest Service roads and unbelievable N.C. single track. There are fully stocked rest stops approximately every 10 miles. You can also send anything you wish to any of the rest areas with our staff. Mt. Mitchell peaks at 6684 ft and is the highest mountain east of the Mississippi river. The town of Old Fort where you start and finish sits at around 1400 feet. Most of the climbing is on Forest Service roads while most of the single track points downhill!
The Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race
– September 2014 – Brevard, NC
The Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race is the second race of the mountain bike stage race genre in the United States and only the 10th in the World. Brevard, NC is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the tallest mountains on the East Coast, and is truly a magical backdrop for some of the best mountain biking in the world. Over five days, racers will bike 195 miles and climb over 28,000’ while taking in some breathtaking views of Pisgah in the colorful fall. Pisgah National Forest is well known for its rooty, rocky, often slick terrain (due to the heavy rainfall in a temperate rainforest) and boasts over 400 miles of singletrack and “half” track trails. This backcountry race puts internationally ranked professional mountain bike racers alongside avid community riders at the start line and finds them swapping stories at the finish line. The weeks’ events include 5 days of racing, daily pastries and coffee at the race start, a recovery zone with snacks and recovery drinks at the race finish, Leaders’ Awards Ceremony and Happy Hour following each evening with adult beverages and Hors D’Oeurves, exquisite local catered dinner at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and a Closing Ceremony Celebration Party including a vendor expo, kids race, silent auction and live music.
The Swank 65
– November 13, 2013 – Brevard, NC
The Swank 65 Mountain Bike Journey is mountain bike racing at its most primeval, far removed from civilization and polluted air. The race begins at 2500 feet, and consists of a triad of cloverleaf shaped loops winding around Gloucester Gap in Pisgah National Forest. Rolling over rugged mining roads, fun single track, tough climbs and hell-raising descents, the exhilarating course will test your skills and desire as you explore the devilish terrain of the Pisgah National Forest.
The Carolina Youth Mountain Bike League (CYMBL)

These mountain bike races give kids in the Carolinas the opportunity to line up against peers on fun, flowy trails! Mountain biking the CYMBL way is a fun, safe, competitive approach to cross country riding and emphasizes a supportive spirit among racers. Our goal is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle in our community. By teaching kids how to overcome obstacles on the trail, they will in turn learn to overcome obstacles in life.
Long Cane Trails
Long Cane Trails, LLC is a Carolina based trail building company specializing in trail layout, design and construction of multi-use trails intended for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. Trails are built with long term sustainability in mind while ensuring user enjoyment in the flow of the trail. Focusing on erosion control and proper drainage through the use of rolling grade dips, rock armoring, and raised tread surfaces, Long Cane Trails limits the impact on the natural environment as much as possible. A fine balance between machines and hand tools creates sustainable and fun trails.
